Valuable tips to help make your application and interview experiences at TIEFENBACHER GROUP successful.
Find answers to most asked questions related to applications and more. General tips for recent graduates and experience professionals.
1. Which documents should I include in my application package?
Your letter of motivation is your opportunity to introduce yourself and to demonstrate why you are a good fit for the position as well as for the company. Clearly state your motivation and interest in the company, explain why you are qualified for the position, and try to draw connections between your previous experiences and the requirements of the job you are applying for. Many applicants forget that the cover letter is your chance to stand out. Your cover letter should be no longer than a single page.
Address your cover letter to the HR Business Partner recruiting for the position you would like to be considered for.
Your CV should be well-structured and contain only relevant information. Please omit unnecessary information such as a skill summary, objective, or profile. Information provided in these sections are usually very general and do not give the hiring manager any viable information. Use that extra little bit of space to explain what tasks previous jobs entailed instead. Limit the job descriptions to those tasks that seem relevant for the job you are applying for and make sure that the information you are providing is meaningful. For example, just writing down that you were responsible for document maintenance doesn’t tell the reader much but specifying the type of documents and explaining filing criteria may.
Your CV should list all your work experience in chronological order starting with the most recent one. Make sure to include the month and the year when referencing the amount of time spent doing a particular job. The same goes for the education section.
It is okay to have gaps in your resume; however, do not leave those unexplained and try to be specific. Maybe you took time off to care for a child, or you decided to go on sabbatical. Whatever the reason, just be open and proactive about it.
Your CV should not be longer than 2 pages using 11-point font size in a common font type such as Times New Roman or Arial. Just remember that the hiring manager will only have a few minutes to scan your resume, and you want relevant information to catch their eye.
Please include copies of any degrees or certificates you may hold. Copies of your transcripts would also be appreciated. If one of your previous employers was located within Germany you should have received a written employer reference. Please include one for each employer. We understand that this is not common for employers residing outside of Germany. In that case, please provide us with the contact information for a reference. Ensure that your reference is available to speak on your behalf.
